ABIDE WEEKLY

Stay close between gatherings
At Abide Night, we slowed down to be still and listen for God together. Jesus said, “Abide in me, as I abide in you” (John 15:4). To abide is to remain: to stay near him not just for an evening, but at the kitchen table, in the car, and in the middle of a hard week.

Each week until our next Abide Night, we’ll share a short reflection from Scripture and one simple practice. These aren’t assignments, and there’s no falling behind. Try what you can, skip what doesn’t fit, and come back whenever you’re ready.

Week 1 | Speak, I Am Listening
In the Old Testament, a boy named Samuel heard someone call his name in the night. Three times he assumed it was the priest Eli and ran to him. Finally Eli realized it was God and told Samuel to answer, “Speak, your servant is listening” (1 Samuel 3). Samuel didn’t need to be an expert. He only needed to be available. Silence isn’t empty. It’s room to be with someone.

THIS WEEK:  Set a daily reminder for five minutes. When it goes off, sit with your hands open and pray, Speak, I am listening. Your mind will wander. That’s normal, and it isn’t failing. Each time, gently come back to the phrase. You don’t have to hear anything.  Just be there.
