Throughout history humans have gravitated toward being tribal. Our tribe either looks like us, behaves like us or believes like us. There were some very significant reasons people grouped up in tribes throughout history. Having a tribe offered an element of safety or comfort or friendship. Being alone meant you were not safe. So having a tribe could be a real positive thing. It still can. But having a tribe also creates a defining line between "us" and "them". Frequently "they" are viewed as not comfortable, not safe and probably unfriendly. The language we use to support our tribe is that "they" are bad and "we" are good. These dividing lines can be seen everywhere in our cultural and national conversation.

But when it comes to the Good News of Jesus, tribalism can cause us to reject the people God wants to reach through us. This is exactly the lights on moment that Peter experiences as we unpack the book of Acts further. We will explore how tribalism can get in the way and how God wants to transform our thinking!
